Call For Tests

We will be posting requests for tests that can be done by members of the e-NABLE Community.  Some will be appropriate for groups that can print prosthetic hands.  Some will test different brands of printers.  Some might be appropriate for entire classes to take on for semester projects.

To get us started, here is our first Call for Test!

Call for Test 1: Printer Capability Test

Who:  Appropriate for individual volunteers
What:  Print a specific file on your 3D printer in a material of your choosing
Where:  Any location that has a 3D printer
When:  Tests are welcome while we compile a database of printers in use in the materials used for 3D printing prosthetics.  This call will be closed when sufficient data is collected.  There is not and end date for this test.
How:  See the printer capability procedure  and then share test data.

Call for Test 2:  Ability to Grip

Who:  Appropriate for individual/chapters who have a completely assembled hand.
What:  Test the hand’s ability to perform 24 standard grips.  24 common objects will be needed to perform these tests.  Data is still useful even if not all 24 grips are attempted.  Test is designed to be non-destructive though damage could occur in any test.
Where:  Any location
When:  Tests are welcome while we compile a list of the grips that the standard e-NABLE hands are able to perform.  This call will be closed when sufficient data is collected.  There is not and end date for this test.
How:  Use this ability to grip procedure and then share data.

Call for Test 3:  Get a Grip

Who:  Appropriate for individual/chapters who have a completely assembled hand of any eNABLE or test hand design .
What:  Test the hand’s grip strength using a standard blood pressure cuff.
Where:  Any location
When:  Tests are welcome while we compile average and standard deviation values for the grip forces that the e-NABLE hands are able to impart.  This call will be closed when sufficient data is collected.  There is not and end date for this test.
How: Use this get a grip procedure and then share data.

Call for Test 4:  Box and Block

Who:  Appropriate for individual/chapters who have a completely assembled hand of any eNABLE or test hand design . The equipment is easily collected from commonly available materials.
What:  Test the fine motor skill functionality of the hand by picking up small blocks. The user will pick up as many blocks and place them in a box as possible in 60 seconds.
Where:  Any location
When:  Tests are welcome while we compile average and standard deviation values for the grip forces that the e-NABLE hands are able to impart.  This call will be closed when sufficient data is collected.  There is not and end date for this test.
How: Use this box and block procedure and then share data.
